Divico and Divona: two new resistant grape varieties

Reserved for professionals

Location : Model SA area

 Created by Jean-Laurent Spring by crossing Gamaret and Bronner, an interspecific grape variety naturally resistant to the main vine diseases, Divico and Divona have made a remarkable entry onto Swiss vineyards. Come learn more about these two grape varieties from their creator himself while tasting five wines already available on the market.

Going for the gold


Location : Model SA area

How do competition panels decide which wines are awarded gold or silver medals? With the help of a specialist in Swiss and international competitions, you will explore the visual, olfactory and gustatory criteria that can either make or break a wine while analysing five Chasselas. Open to everyone, this workshop, sponsored by the Mondial du Chasselas, does not require any special tasting knowledge.

Trying Swiss truffles!


Location : Model SA area

Coveted by gourmets and foodies around the world, truffles (also known as ‘black diamonds’) have found a home in the forests in the north of the Canton of Vaud. Frank Siffert, a passionate truffle collector, has prepared five tasty appetisers made with Swiss truffles. Each of these gourmet nuggets will be accompanied by two wines chosen from among the best Swiss winemakers by Alexandre Truffer, deputy editor-in-chief of VINUM magazine.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH

Georgia, cradle of wine

Location : Model SA area

Shaped by thousand-year-old traditions and astonishing terracotta amphorae, Georgia’s wine culture is now rebuilding its reputation. Lucas Maliczak from Vades Wine, a distributor specialising in organic Georgian wines, will introduce you to the history and potential of a wine country as old as it is unknown through five wines selected for their typicity and quality.

Esprit de Genève 2015


Location : Model SA area

An emblematic red blend from the third largest wine-growing canton in Switzerland, the Esprit de Genève is enjoying increasing success with producers and consumers alike. Christian Guyot, a winegrower in Bernex, will explain the features of this specialty which combines traditional grape varieties and modern oenology. In the practical segment that follows, you will be able to taste five Esprits from the excellent 2015 vintage produced by five talented winegrowers.

Bubbles from around the world


Location : Model SA area

Johanna Dayer, one of the few Swiss citizens to have studied at the prestigious Institute of Masters of Wine, has selected six Champagnes along with six effervescent wines from the rest of the world. She is offering blind tastings of famous and lesser-known sparkling wines. Will you be able to recognise each wine’s origin? Will the most famous labels be the most popular? This is an absolute must for lovers of more traditional methods.

Two wines chosen from among the finest Swiss wines will accompany each of the tasty bites prepared by the staff from the President Wilson hotel. Let yourself be dazzled by food and wine pairings that are both refined and surprising.

Florian Barthassat will lead this workshop which offers accessible explanations on how to taste wine. Barthassat, an oenologist, will demystify several aspects of the wine industry, including how wine is made, what simple steps to follow to taste it like a professional would and how aroma is created during the vinification process according to the variety of grape used. All of this will be explained while tasting five wines from the Cave de Genève.

Côtes-Rôties


Location : Model SA area

Côte-Rôtie is the name given to a variety of Syrahs grown on sun-drenched terraced vineyards in the south of Lyon. These are wines known for their finesse, their depth and their complexity. Thierry Ciampi, an oenologist from the Schenk group and a many-time champion of tasting competitions, will offer seven variations of this luscious red from one of the most prestigious appellations of the Côtes-du-Rhône.

Château d’Yquem vertical tasting


Location : Model SA area

Dominique Fornage, a collector of exceptional wines and organiser of sumptuous tastings, will take you back in time with a breathtaking vertical from one of the greatest Bordeaux legends: the Château d’Yquem. The only wine to have obtained the title of Premier Cru Supérieur in the famous 1855 classification, Yquem has a complexity and potential that is second to none.
